Behold ...hereby we perceive

So not to get lost from topic the contrast example is removed, not to deceive or take away from but to focus on the manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us.

The word "KNOW" is used 17 times between the "beholds" of 1John 3:1 and Jude14(Where the next behold is)

We are told in 1John 3:1 to "Behold" now in 1John 3:16 "Hereby=or by this we "perceive"
